The Ontario Music Educators’ Association is calling for writers interested in creating secondary music resources.

Final resources will be due on or before Monday, June 3, 2024. Successful applicants will be notified no later than Friday, April 26, 2024. Upon notification, writers will receive a template, examples, and will gather virtually for one writing workshop to brainstorm ideas for their resources (tentative dates below). Upon completion of two lessons per writer, resource writers will receive an honorarium of $300. We are seeking to recruit resource writers for the following topics:

Music Technology Lessons – 2 writers (a total of four created lessons)

Guitar-based Lessons – 1 writer (a total of two created lessons)

Culturally Responsive* Lessons – 2 writers (a total of four created lessons)

Indigenous Music Lessons** – 1 writer (a total of two created lessons)

Applications Here:

* Examples of culturally responsive lessons might include lessons focusing on South Asian music, Caribbean Music, African music, etc. These lessons may also be geared towards engaging with specific cultural instruments (i.e., Indian sitar, West African djembe, Trinidadian steel pans, etc.)

** Note: We are seeking a music educator who identifies as Indigenous and possesses knowledge and lived experience in Indigenous music making for the creation of these Indigenous music resources. 

Preference will be given to Indigenous music educators who are based in the province of Ontario. However, consideration will also be given to individuals who are based in other Canadian provinces.
